About Loyalty Lodge No. 4971

Loyalty Lodge No. 4971 is based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. We meet on Wednesdays at Castle Grove Masonic Hall, Moor Road in Headingley LS6 4BP. A beautiful grade II Victorian listed building a few miles from Leeds city centre. Since 1934 Castle Grove Masonic Hall has been the home for several Leeds Masonic Lodges.

Every 3rd Wednesday we have a formal meeting followed by food and drinks called 'The Festive Board'.

Loyalty Lodge No. 4971 was founded on Tuesday 22nd of November 1927, at the Masonic Hall in Great George Street, Leeds. The Lodge was Consecrated by RW Bro the Viscount Lascelles, the 6th Earl of Harewood, Provincial Grand Master for Yorkshire. The old Masonic Hall in Leeds from 1865, on the corner of Millennium Square and Leeds Town Hall, still features original Masonic symbols carved into the exterior stonework.

Loyalty Lodge was unique among the Leeds lodges in as much as it was the first in the city formed with the object of uniting Masons of both the Jewish and Christian faiths. Since its inception Loyalty Lodge has always sought to encourage Brethern of all Faiths to become members, a true multi-faith Lodge. Freemasonry is not a religious organisation and discussions on religion or politics are not entertained during our meetings.

Loyalty Lodge was so successful and had a long list of candidates it was decided to set up a daughter Lodge on the 2nd of September 1947, The Lodge of Dawn No. 6511. The Lodge of Dawn also meet at Castle Grove.

Applications must be from a charitable organisation or charity located within the geographical boundaries of the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding, ideally close to Leeds. We will ask for relevant information so our Lodge Charity Team can make a decision.

Who can join? Any man over the age of 18 is welcome to join Freemasonry regardless of their background, race or religion.

There are several ways to join Loyalty Lodge 4971 and become a Freemason. The simplest way is to send us a message via the contact form on this website, we will be in touch to answer your questions and share more about Freemasonry. If you already know a member of our Lodge, they can also introduce you.

We will invite you to an informal chat so we can get to know you and ensure our Lodge meeting times fit your schedule. Then you are ready to be proposed to the Lodge.
